UPDATE (7/17/2023): This work has been extended through Tuesday, July 18.

FAIRFAX – Monument Drive over I-66 in Fairfax will be reduced to a single travel lane in each direction starting at 6 a.m. on or about Monday, July 10, for bridge joint replacement and median construction. This traffic pattern will remain in place for about one week, through approximately 6 a.m. Monday, July 17.

The left turn lane from Monument Drive North to the 66 Express Lanes West and the left turn lane from Monument Drive South to the 66 Express Lanes East will also be closed to complete this work. Right turn movements to access the express lanes will remain open.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

Monday, July 10, through Monday, July 17

Monument Drive North over I-66

• A single travel lane will be open on Monument Drive North beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, July 10, continuously through approximately 6 a.m. Monday, July 17.
• The left turn to the 66 Express Lanes West will be closed.
• Northbound drivers heading to the 66 Express Lanes West will be directed to make a U-turn at the Fair Lakes Parkway traffic signal, then stay to the right to access the westbound express lanes.
• All lanes will reopen by approximately 6 a.m. Monday, July 17.

Monday, July 10, through Monday, July 17

Monument Drive South over I-66

• A single travel lane will be open on Monument Drive South beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, July 10, continuously through approximately 6 a.m. Monday, July 17.
• The left turn to the 66 Express Lanes East will be closed.
• Southbound drivers heading to the 66 Express Lanes East will be directed to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Government Center Parkway, then stay to the right to access the eastbound express lanes.
• All lanes will reopen by approximately 6 a.m. Monday, July 17.
