Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges, March 27 – April 1, for Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Sunday night, March 27, through Friday night, April 1
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed nightly Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Sunday, March 27
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
Monday night, March 28, through Friday night, April 1
Ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South and the 495 Express Lanes South
The ramp will be closed Monday night from midnight to 4 a.m., and Tuesday through Friday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge work and a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal to Nutley Street South, stay right to I-66 East, then follow signs to I-495 South or the 495 Express Lanes South.
Monday night, March 28
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for crews to move barrier. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 East.
Monday night, March 28, through Wednesday night, March 30
Ramp from Route 28 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to Route 29 (Lee Highway) South (prior to the closed ramp), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then continue for about one mile and follow signs to I-66 East.
Monday night, March 28, through Wednesday night, March 30
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 West. (Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.)
Monday night, March 28, through Thursday night, March 31
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for utility work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West. (Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.)
Wednesday night, March 30, and Thursday night, March 31
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. both nights for inspections. Traffic will be directed to exit to Route 29 Centreville (prior to the closure), stay to the right to Route 29 North, then follow signs to Route 28 North.
Thursday night, March 31, and Friday night, April 1
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. both nights for barrier work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 608 South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 East.
