ROUTE 633 (ST. LUKE’S ROAD) BRIDGE SUPERSTRUCTURE REPLACEMENT OVER HORSE PEN SWAMP COMPLETE
Route 633 open to traffic, detour lifted ahead of schedule

SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY– On Aug. 28, Route 633 (St. Lukes Road) over Horse Pen Swamp, near Berlin in Southampton County, reopened ahead of schedule following the completion of the bridge superstructure replacement work by Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews.

Repairs to the bridge included installing a new timber bridge deck and steel beams. A full road closure of Route 633 (St. Luke’s Road) from Route 710 (Roundhill Road) to Route 626 (Berlin Dorey Road) that had been in place since Aug. 21, has been lifted.
