VDOT News - Hampton Roads

NOTE: This list covers full closures of interstates, ramps, bridges and primary roads, and lane closures at the bridge-tunnels and the Berkley, Coleman, High Rise and James River bridges. 

*Scheduled closures are subject to change based on weather conditions and other factors.*

Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, I-64: 

- Mobile, single-lane closure westbound June 21 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. 

Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel, I-664:  

- Alternating, mobile, single-lane closures northbound June 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Alternating, single-lane closures northbound June 20-22 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., including brief, intermittent stoppages starting at 11:59 p.m. 

Berkley Bridge, I-264: 

- Single-lane closure eastbound June 20-23 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. 

James River Bridge, Route 17: 

- Alternating, mobile, single-lane closures southbound June 18-22 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

- Alternating, mobile, single-lane closures in both directions June 21-22 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

George P. Coleman Bridge, Route 17: 

- Alternating, mobile, single-lane closures June 20 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

HRBT Expansion Project:

Elizabeth River Tunnels (Downtown/Midtown Tunnels):  

- Go to Elizabeth River Tunnels for maintenance schedules on the Downtown Tunnel (I-264), Midtown Tunnel (U.S. 58) and MLK Expressway (Route 164).  

I-64, Southside Widening, High Rise Bridge Expansion:

I-64, Express Lanes:  

- Full closure in both directions: 
           - June 19 and 21 from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. 
           - June 19-23 from as early as 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

I-64, James City County: 

- Full, alternating closures of the following ramps June 18-24 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. 
          - Off-ramp from I-64 east to Old Stage Road (exit 227)
          - On-ramp from Old Stage Road to I-64 east
          - Off-ramp from I-64 east to Croaker Road (exit 231B)
          - On-ramp from Croaker Road to I-64 east
