SEVERAL ROADS REOPEN, FOUR REMAIN CLOSED IN NORTHERN NECK AREA AFTER LAST WEEK’S FLOODING
Route 202 (Hampton Hall Road) in Northumberland County remains closed to through traffic with a detour in place
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Several state-maintained roads in the Fredericksburg District have reopened this week following heavy rain and flooding on Friday, June 11. Four roads, including Route 202 (Hampton Hall Road) in Northumberland County, remain closed as crews continue to assess the extent of the repairs required to reopen the roads.
Route 202 remains closed to through traffic east of Route 619 (Deer Run Road). Motorists should continue to follow the posted detour route for this closure:
• Route 617 (Lively Hope Road)
• Route 600 (Gibeon Road)
• Route 360 (Richmond Road)
The following state-maintained roads either reopened this week or remain closed in the Northern Neck, and in Stafford County:
King George County
• Route 625 (Salem Church Road). Open.
Richmond County
• Route 621 (Tallent Town Road). Open.
• Route 637 (County Bridge Road) CLOSED. Extensive repairs required, and a project schedule will be developed and announced.
• Route 638 (China Hill Road). Open.
Northumberland County
• Route 202 (Hampton Hall Road). CLOSED with detour. Extensive repairs required, and a project schedule will be developed and announced.
• Route 618 (Fallin Town Road). Open.
• Route 619 (Valley Drive). Open.
• Route 620 (Kissinger Spring Road). CLOSED. Extensive repairs required, and a project schedule will be developed and announced.
Stafford County
• Route 607 (River Road). Open.
• Route 608 (Brooke Road). Open.
Westmoreland County
• Route 678 (Hart's Landing Road). CLOSED at the very end of state-maintenance. Repairs required, crews anticipate to reopen the road next week.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will announce additional details once more is known about the extent of the work and develop a repair timeline for all three road closures.
As roads are repaired and reopened, updates will be posted to 511Virginia.
Closed roads are posted with signs and either barrels or barricades. Motorists should always adhere to these road closures and use an alternate route.
Updated work schedules will be shared through VDOT’s Fredericksburg District Twitter account and Fredericksburg District Facebook page. It will also be included in the weekly lane closure list, Hot Spots, which is posted to VDOT’s Travel Center page.
