VDOT News - Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. –  Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 8, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close a portion of Route 632 (Mount Olive-Cohoke Road) in King William County while crews replace the existing bridge over Harrison Creek.

VDOT will replace the timber deck bridge with a new concrete structure that will be slightly wider with improved shoulders in each direction.  

The new bridge will be constructed in accordance with VDOT’s current structure and bridge standards and will no longer have a reduced weight restriction.

During construction, drivers will be detoured around the road closure:

• from Route 360 should use Route 633 to Route 621
• from Route 33 use Route 632 to Route 633

Detour signs are posted along the recommended six-mile detour route.

Local traffic can use the most convenient alternate route.

The $1.1 million bridge replacement project is expected to be complete in November 2020.

According to the most recent VDOT traffic data, approximately 590 vehicles a day use this section of Route 632 (Mt. Olive –Cohoke Road).
