FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has scheduled daytime lane closures on Interstate 95 southbound next week to inspect the interstate bridge over the Rappahannock River. 

Starting Monday, Nov. 16, single lane closures are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on I-95 southbound at the bridge, which connects Stafford County and the City of Fredericksburg.

Motorists traveling south can expect travel delays at midday in the Fredericksburg area each day through Thursday, Nov. 19. 

No daytime lane closures are scheduled on I-95 southbound on Friday, Nov. 20. 

The routine bridge inspection must occur during the daylight hours to safely perform the work. 

Weather permitting, the following lane closures will occur on I-95 southbound at the Rappahannock River Bridge, which is located at mile marker 132: 

Monday, Nov. 16 – Thursday, Nov. 19 

9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Alternating, single lane closures
